Biography and Photos for James Mongomery TEGART Upper Canada Land Petitions "T" bundle 13, 1821-1824 RG 1, L3, Vol.498(a) The Petition of James Tegart now of Tecumseth - Weaver Humbly Sheweth That your petitioner is a native of the County of Armagh, Ireland from whence he emigrated to Quebec in May last. That he has a wife and two children has taken the Oath of Allegiance Certificate whereof is annexed and never before applied for land from the Crown. - That he is of ability and desirous to improve 100 acres of land and humbly prayeth Your Excellency will be pleased to grant him 100 acres paying fees. From the latter part of April till late in June, 1828, the writer (Mr. Carroll) was at study in York, awaiting Elder Case's decision as to where he was to go. . . . Cunningham's, West Gwilliamsbury; Wednesday - Mr. Taggart's, Tecumseth; Thursday - Back to Mr. Roadhouse's, in Albion; Friday - A long ride back to Chingacousy, at good old Mrs. Taylor's; Saturday - Down to Harrison's or Hopkins', and held a prayer -meetin; Sunday - Hopkins', Shell's, and Aikins' school-houses. . . .
